Ways to Give

Hundreds of people, foundations, community groups, and companies support Harbor Interfaith Services with gifts of all sizes.  Giving only takes a moment but that moment could change a life.  You can gift anything with a tangible value.  Here are some ways to give.

Cash gifts

This is the simplest way to contribute. Most gifts are made by check or credit card. Gifts in thanks for care or in honor of a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary are always thoughtful gifts. Those in memory of a loved one are a special tribute as well. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Employer’s matching gifts

Many employers sponsor matching gift  programs and will match, or even double or triple match, charitable contributions made by their employees.  Click here for more information.

Legacy Gifts

A charitable bequest is simply a distribution from your estate to a charitable organization through your last will and testament.  Click this link for a form to register your pledge:  confirmaton-of-deferred-gift-12-7-16

Stocks, bonds, mutual funds

Harbor Interfaith accepts the donation of appreciated securities, which may offer the donor tax advantages while providing valuable support for our ministries. These types of gifts are handled by Advanced Planning Solutions in Redondo Beach.  Call 310-831-0603 x224 to make arrangements.

Life insurance policies

A gift of your life insurance policy is an excellent way to make a gift to charity. If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your insurance policy. For example, you may have purchased a policy to provide for minor children and they are now financially independent adults.  To make a gift of insurance, please consult your attorney.

Business or partnership interests

For an individual holding an interest in a business or investment entity taxed as a partnership, a charitable transfer can create an attractive planning opportunity while providing welcome support to Harbor Interfaith.  A transfer may be crafted as an outright gift, a sale followed by donation of the proceeds, or part gift/sale as needed to satisfy the charitable, estate, and succession objectives of the donor.  To make a gift of business or partnership interests, please consult your attorney.

Retirement plan assets, IRAs

Donating part or all of your unused retirement assets such as a gift from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension or other tax-deferred plan is an excellent way to make a gift to our organization.   These types of gifts are handled by Advanced Planning Solutions in Redondo Beach.  Call 310-831-0603 x224 to make arrangements.

You may want to consult your legal or tax advisor as you plan your gift.
