Bernadette Chase - Director of Educational Services

Ms. Bernadette Chase serves as Director of Educational Services at Harbor Interfaith.  She is responsible for daily operation of the agency Children's Services. Ms. Chase has worked with infants to school age children for over 12 years for various non-profit agencies and school districts in Northern California.  For the past 6 years she has served as program director in various educational programs such as the YMCA and First 5 LA. Ms. Chase has attained her Master and Bachelor degrees in Early Childhood Education from Chapman University.  She is fluent in Assyrian, Persian and English. 

Jessica Thill – Associate Director

Ms. Jessica Thill enjoys supporting the teachers as they create and provide high-quality experiences for the children. Ms. Thill actively manages the Child Nutrition Program which ensures the children at our center are well-nourished with healthy foods and are ready to engage in their teacher’s curriculum activities. Ms. Thill creates a 6-week-cycle of menus including breakfast, lunch, and snacks.  Furthermore, she assists in the operation of the after-school program, and really enjoys aiding children in discovering their unique abilities as well as the self-discipline it takes to excel as a student. Ms. Thill graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a B.A. in Child Development and Family Studies.

Ana Rodriguez - Teacher

Ms. Ana Rodriguez works as a toddler teacher for the Caulder Center. Ms. Rodriguez is pursuing a degree in Child Development. She has worked with young children from infant to preschool for almost 8 years. Ms. Rodriguez enjoys the children’s sense of wonder and strong curiosity.

Guadalupe "Lupe" Delatorre - Teacher

Ms. Lupe Delatorre works as one of our infant teacher. She has 29 units in Early Childhood Education and over 23 years of experience working as a teacher. She loves working with children and is happy to be a part of the Harbor Interfaith family.

 

 

 

Estela Galindo-Walker - Teacher

Ms. Estela Walker joined the Caulder Center team in 2012.  She is currently attending Los Angeles Southwest College and pursuing a degree in Child Development with a Teacher's Permit. For the past 19 years, she has shared her passion for teaching children.  She began her career at a Head Start Program where she worked with infant/toddler and preschool age children.  Ms. Walker cherishes her work and provides wonderful and unforgettable experiences for the children here at Harbor Interfaith.

Connie Smith - Teacher

Ms. Connie Smith has been with Harbor Interfaith since 2010. She’s taught many different grade levels in three different states, and has served as an administrator in special education, adult education, and after school childcare.   She has been awarded Teacher of the Year by the Palos Verdes Unified School District and the Los Angeles County.  Ms. Smith is deeply committed to the mission of Harbor Interfaith Services, and finds great personal happiness witnessing the transformations that regularly occur within families and children who participate in HIS Programs. Ms. Smith has a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education, and a Master Degree in Educational Administration from UCLA.

Diana Ulloa-Serrano - After-School Aide

Ms. Diana Ulloa-Serrano enjoys working with children and their families. She has been working with school-aged children since 2008. She previously worked as a tutor for five years. She enjoys reading with children and using arts and crafts in the curriculum. Moreover, she believes in positive reinforcement. In her free time she does research by reading psychology books and academic journals to update her knowledge in child development. Ms. Ulloa-Serrano has a degree in Child Development from the California State University Dominguez Hills with University Honors (Cum Laude) and Honors in the Major. She completed the child development permit with an emphasis in school-aged application. Her academic goal is to complete her Master degree in Marital and Family Therapy.

Ms. Elizabeth Sankey is one of the newest teachers with an extensive background in volunteer work, ranging from Montessori preschool/kindergarten level, the Boys & Girls Club and the Neil Bogart Pediatric Foundation. Ms. Elizabeth is very dedicated to enriching the lives of children. Her main focus as a teacher is creating a positive, nurturing environment filled with imagination and creativity.

Ms. Manuela "Nelly" Saenz works as our children's center cook. She has always loved to cook. Ms.Saenz enjoys preparing tasty, healthy meals and interacting with the children. The children lovingly call her Ms. Nelly and always give her thanks for her delicious food.
