Our Story
The South Bay Auxiliary formed in August 2007 to help Harbor Interfaith Services produce an annual event that would not only raise much-needed funding, but also build community awareness about the important work HIS does to empower homeless and working poor people in our community.
At the auxiliary’s first organizing luncheon, 12 women—all strangers to one another and admitted novices at fundraising—cast their doubts aside and signed on to the challenge.
Just a few short years later, the auxiliary’s membership has grown to more than 40 women, who have become close friends united in their support of HIS.
Proceeds from the auxiliary’s first event provided funding for architectural drawings necessary to raise funds for the new Family Resource Center, which will house a new childcare center, afterschool program, food pantry and offices.
In addition, gala proceeds help keep essential services flowing at HIS on an annual basis. The auxiliary welcomes new members throughout the year. For more information, email Cindy Stokes at cindystokes33@yahoo.com
